Fiona has graduated from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic with a Masters Degree in Animal Manipulation, as well as completing an ITEC diploma in Equine Sports Massage. This qualifies her for membership with relevant professional bodies - MAA, ESMA and BCMA, with whom she continues her professional development. She has also attended several clinics by Jim Masterson in using Integrated Performance Bodywork. In the future she plans to expand into electro therapies as well, and has just purchased a low level light laser to help with superficial injuries.

All techniques offered are holistic which aim to improve an animal's musculoskeletal balance, that in turn promotes healing, soundness and maintains athletic performance.

McTimoney Animal Manipulation

The McTimoney Animal Manipulation is a technique which aims to align and balance the animal's musculoskeletal system, through careful manipulation of any misaligned joints. Particular attention is paid to the pelvis and spine. Manipulation of the joints helps to release muscle spasm, restoring flexibility and promoting neural communication to help the healing process. McTimoney treatment of Animals was developed by John McTimoney in the 1950's where chiropractic techniques used on humans were adapted for use on animals. It is a treatment that is relatively gentle to receive but can have some profound effects.

Equine Sports Massage

Sports Massage works on the muscular and fascial soft tissue. Massage is used to increase circulation, enhance muscle tone and relax muscle spasm. For rehabilitation massage can be used to aid recovery and to prevent muscle atrophy. When used as a preventative treatment it releases general muscle tension and aids mental relaxation.

Integrated Performance Bodywork

The Masterson Method of Integrated Performance Bodywork uses responses from the horse to guide you to areas of stress and strain within its body. Using a combination of touch, massage, stretching and release you are able to release areas of accumulated stress that affects mobility, comfort, attitude, training and performance. This powerful technique is rewarding to watch as the horse guides you through the treatment.

Low Light Laser Therapy

Laser therapy has proven benefits in the healing of lesions. This increasingly popular electrotherapy stimulates the cells around the lesion into action speeding up the healing time. Fiona can use this alongside the other treatments that she offers.

Each treatment will be adapted to your animal's needs and will use any combination of the above techniques.
